Born in Manchester on 8 June 1960, Mick Hucknall – the sole and undisputed leader of Simply Red – was one of the most famous artists in the world for much of the 80s and 90s. With 40 million records sold, nominations for the most prestigious music awards, including the Mercury Music Prize, 4 Brits and a dozen concert events around the world, Hucknall should not have much more to prove. The group made their debut in the mid-80s with PICTURE BOOK, released in October 1985. Success arrived, consolidated with MEN AND WOMEN (1987) and A NEW FLAME (1989). PICTURE BOOK remained in the English album charts for 30 months, while STARS, released in 1991, was still the best-selling album in 1992. BLUE, and the subsequent LOVE AND THE RUSSIAN WINTER
