The best Alternative, on stage in Padua!
With an average attendance of 120,000 visitors in recent editions, Sherwood Festival is one of the longest-running and most popular events on the Italian cultural and music scene. Every summer, for thirty days, it transforms a simple car park into a lively and vibrant space, a real city within a city. It is one of the most comprehensive and diverse independent festivals, where music, culture, sport, socialising and debates intertwine to create something unique, together with hundreds of volunteers.
Since its inception in 1990, the Sherwood Festival has hosted some of the biggest names on the national and international music scene, including Alice in Chains, Afterhours, Bad Religion, Baustelle, Caparezza, Carmen Consoli, Cypress Hill, Daniele Silvestri, Emir Kusturica, Fatboy Slim, Ghali, Goran Bregovic, Litfiba, Manu Chao, Marlene Kuntz, Pat Metheny, Paul Kalkbrenner, Public Enemy, Salmo, Sepultura, Sinéad O'Connor, Skunk Anansie, Subsonica, Suicidal Tendencies, The Offspring, The Prodigy, The Wailers, Tiromancino, Verdena and many others. In 2018, the ‘Sherwood Changes For Climate Justice’ campaign was launched, the first step in a transformation process that continues today.
Thanks to the actions we have taken, we have reduced CO₂ emissions by 50% and supported the protection of ancient forests in the Huong Son district of Vietnam. The campaign also focuses on the local area: together with WOWnature, the festival has planted over 300 trees in the outskirts of Padua and along the banks of the Brenta River, contributing to the preservation of its ecosystem and the creation of new green spaces for the community.
