Peter Hernandez, Bruno Mars' real name, was born in 1985 in Waikiki, Hawaii. He began his career at a very young age, performing songs by Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, the Isley Brothers and the Temptations at just four years old. After graduating from university, his uncle convinced him to move to pursue his dream of becoming a singer. However, success did not come immediately. Instead, months of frustration followed, at least until Mars met Philip Lawrence, a composer who convinced him to write songs for other artists. The two wrote the song “Long Distance”, released in 2008 and sung by R&B artist Brandy.
