André Rieu began taking violin lessons at the age of five. He grew up in a family of six children devoted to music, and his father was also an orchestra conductor. From an early age, he was fascinated by the world of orchestras. Between 1968 and 1973, he studied violin at the Royal Conservatoire in Liège and later at the Maastricht Conservatoire.
