Il Volo è un trio formato dai tre ragazzi provenienti dalla trasmissione “Ti lascio una canzone”: i quindicenni Ignazio Boschetto, Piero Barone e Gianluca Ginoble partecipano all'edizione 2009. Già soprannominati “i tenorini” - vengono quindi prodotti Tony Renis e Michele Torpedine che decidono di coinvolgerli in un progetto discografico a tre. Riescono ad ottenere un contratto un contratto con la Geffen, etichetta americana, e partecipano anche all’evento benefico “We are the world”, accanto ad artisti internazionali come Celine Dion e Bono. Nel 2010 esce il loro primo Ep omonimo, registrato agli studi di Abbey Road a Londra, contiene sette cover e tre inediti.
